Real World Baxter St

Easter Eggs and Karaoke Everywhere!

We're just spending a relaxing day, eating yummy bar-b-que, egg hunting and joking like we love to do. Lauryn and Lana are having lots of fun with their cousin Joshua. they did an indoor egg hunt since outside therer are dangerous wooden boards with nails sticking out. This is donated firewood from the neighbor, but does not make a safe egg hunting environment. They also got on the microphone singing al sorts of Disney songs including their favorite, High School Musical (Who says we have to let it go). They declared Easter as our pet bunny, Lumpia's, official birthday so they blew candles on a mango cake that Joy and Jet brought. And just as a shopping tip, there is a new market called the Little Tokyo Market (which is now Korean owned). It is the where the Mitsuya market and Plaza used to be. It is pretty good. We bought Korean bbq meat that had really good marbling for only 1.98 /lb. It was on sale, but seems like they have good sales. And they have Dad's new wonder food, Natto, or fermented soybeans. The beans are slimy and are an acquired taste, but now he is not struggling for air when he goes up the hill and his circulation is much better so that he can again. Well enjoy the pics. I know you wish you were here and eating some goooood bbq. We'll eat extra for you.

doing my civic duty (Aqui's thoughts from jury duty)

Well this is the perfect time to blog because I am stuck here in jury duty. Its not so bad though. The women in charge are keeping things running smoothly AND they have a sense of humor. The killer was arriving here by 7:30am since Lauryn and the Philippine galavanters arrived at 10:00pm last night and of course we brought everyone to Baxter and the pasalubong started coming out. There was a little dispute between Lauryn and Lana because Lana decided she wanted the littler bunny that Lauryn had picked for herself instead of the big bunny she picked out for Lana. Lauryn cried because Lana said she didn't like the one she chose special for her and because Lana wouldn't give her HER Blue Magic bunny. By the end of the car ride, though, they worked it out and Lana like the bigger bunny because it was softer and Lauryn had told her more about Blue Magic. And when we got home, Lauryn really wasn't tired. She slept 8 hours on the plane. At about 1:30AM last night, we were able to get the kiddies to bed (Lana was also SOOO excited to have Lauryn back), and Lauryn was able to sleep, but she woke up at about 4:30-5:00AM and wanted to get up and watch tv. So I am sleepy right now and I don't think this coffee is even helping.

I must say, however, I think they have made some good improvements to the jury service here. You can do an online orientation ahead of time so you can come in at 9:30am instead. But you have to complete it by the weekend before, so that is why I still had to be there early. Also they have computers in the jury waiting room and wifi, so that is why I am able to post this right away. Your juror badge also gives you free entrance to MOCA, JANM and one other museum. That's kind of cool, but I'll be going to Baxter to eat lunch with the family and my cuties.

Well, hopefully this is the only day I have to serve, I have lots of work to do and time to catch up on with Lauryn. At least there is wifi, I can get a bunch of things done. But I am going to finish Lee's vinyl sticker designs for his motorcycle and update the culturekidsinteractive website with better sized pictures.

In a little while I may need to scope out an outlet so I can plug this computer in. I guess I'll be crawling around on the floor looking under the chairs at the wall. Well, maybe not crawling, the carpet looks pretty new, but not THAT new.
